Orchard Visit || Film Series 1

May 2, 2018

Early last year, I was feeling a little uninspired, yearning for creativity and something to stretch myself as a photographer. After receiving a film camera as a gift from my brother in 2015, I finally got the courage to put it to use and the Russell family kindly offered to be my muse. In the back of my mind, I decided that if I was going to venture in to film, even if just for fun, that I wanted to give it a real shot. Take the time to research, photograph on purpose, and do so in a journalistic way to inspire creativity. From there, the idea to do a film series came naturally, this being the first of many.

I wanted to try film in different scenarios, with different subjects and different lighting all while using my skills to dig into that need for creativity. The orchard visit last fall started it all and I am excited to share the fruits of my labor with you now. This is just the beginning so if you enjoy this post then I suggest you stay tuned for more to come.

As far as the session goes, I’d been dreaming of going to an orchard and photographing a session with more of a stand back and watch style so that is what we envisioned. Lexi and her family could not have been better for the job if I do say so myself. They are beautiful and have the most innate ability to explore their surroundings, make each other laugh, and create an adventure out of an outing. It was a perfect start to the series and I look forward to what comes of it all.
