Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of getting to attend a workshop with Alex Smith of Love Daphne Mae. It was such a beautiful experience after spending 6 months of mentoring with her and 10 other ladies spread across the US. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I am always going to do better with accountability, encouragement, and inspiration which is why I love doing continuing education. And this didn’t even feel like education but rather a beautiful period of time growing as a mother, as a friend, as a photographer. Alex has such a vivid and unique outlook on life and running a business that is so inspiring. But enough talk about that (maybe I should do another post just about the workshop?) and on to part 1 of this session.
One of the joys of doing a workshop is getting to photograph lovely people. We did a couple of shoots and this is part 1 of the first one we did. It took place at our stunning rental steps away from a peaceful lake. I’m so in love with this little family and how adorable they are! It made me step back and truly think about what it’s like to be in a family, to grow a family, to photograph families. Not every moment is picture perfect but every moment can be cherished and adored. Our lives are truly beautiful in every small and mundane moment if you take a second to step back and be grateful for it all. I know that I need that reminder and often feel it when I step behind my camera to carefully watch and document someone else’s life. What a beautiful thing to behold.
