I’ve been stepping towards a season in my life for many years now and that season is motherhood.
As many of you might know, we struggled with infertility for 3.5 years before finally getting pregnant with our precious baby girl and also after suffering a miscarriage a few months prior. We spent years watching others celebrate and experience something we longed so much for. It was full of bittersweet moments of joy for our friends and family but also sadness for our lack of ability to join the club. However, I learned along the way that God’s plan is always greater than our own and definitely does not occur on our own schedules either.
If there was one thing that the wait did to me, it helped shape how I viewed and experienced motherhood. All other priorities took a step back in lei of what became more important. And honestly, I think it’s part of why I made the unapologetic choice to step more into motherhood photography in 2021. I feel the beautiful weight of raising littles in everyday life because I waited so long for it but also in the grand scheme of things too. Each milestone as a mama or child, especially in my own journey, is utterly incomparable to so many things in this world. Don’t get me wrong, it’s easy to lose sight of that with all the things shouting to get our attention in everyday life.
But when it comes down to it, I think one of the most fulfilling jobs or tasks we will ever have is that of motherhood.
