It’s hard to believe that we have been in our new home for over 2 months. Despite being advised to just live in it for the first month without starting any projects (thanks mom), we dove in and got started nearly right away. To our surprise, wallpaper came off incredibly easy and a few coats of paint went up nearly as fast. We have a long way to go but my vision for it all is to maintain the character already within and embrace the current colors as to help minimize the work load.
We spent so much of our time in our last home painting every inch and corner of the trim and walls. Having gone through that before, we knew that with our current home we wanted to do our best to get living in it right away and in doing so, we would need to embrace the look of it and choose colors that would match so that our updates would be easier and faster.
I spent some time perusing Pinterest prior to the move for inspiration and to come up with a color scheme. I am happy to say that we have narrowed it down and are so excited to see it pan out as we update along the way. Below are some of my favorite pins that we are using as inspiration for Our Little House By The Woods (my hashtag for instagram).
The house was built in the early 80’s and is decked with brown trim everywhere and varying carpets/flooring. Did I mention nearly every wall has/had wallpaper on it? We have currently painted a few walls and the kitchen which I will be sharing later but all of which the colors were inspired by images from below. Essentially, we want a warm, vintage, and bright feel to be used throughout the home. Since there is so much brown trim, we are planning to paint the walls lighter colors and use accents to bring in color. Obviously, it is a work in progress and new ideas pop up all of the time. For now, this is our home inspo and we are really excited about it!
