I’ve been thinking a lot lately how beautiful and hard motherhood is.
We’ve recently become the parents of 3 small children at very young ages. Our day-to-day life is filled with naps, snacks, tantrums, tears, and diaper changes. There are dozens of good moments that happen throughout each day but there are also tough ones too. And the weight of that gets to me sometimes.
In my weakest moments, I loose my temper, feel like I am not enough, and struggle to get through the day. But in contrast, in my best moments I feel so blessed and confident in the legacy I am leading in my children. It is equally hard and empowering. And if I am not careful I feel a weight on my shoulders that often doesn’t seem possible to carry on my own.
That is when I have to lean in on Christ. He sets the foundation in ways that I never can and he draws my eyes towards him through my imperfections. I know that being a mother is a gift and that mothering my own children is a wonderful chance to create the culture and legacy of our family values that lives on through them. My deepest desire is to be a soft place to land for their little hearts as they navigate life just like Christ is to me. And when I inevitably fail at something, I hope I encourage them to point their eyes to Jesus, the one who is perfect in every way.
He is the truest legacy and the softest place to land for us all.
