The Youngdale Family || At Home

October 9, 2019

This session has had me bursting at the seams with excitement to share it on my blog because of how incredibly sweet and sentimental it was. Emily and I worked together when I was first out of college and I’ve had the opportunity and pleasure of taking her family pictures several times over the years. This session, in particular, is my favorite of theirs because it was in their forever home which was newly built and freshly lived in.

Earlier this year, Emily messaged me asking if I’d be interested in coming to their house and photographing them in their new home on a regular Saturday morning once the build was completed. I, of course, did not object and it turned out to be so adorable! Everything about it represents them as a family and what life looks like at this stage. It truly is a gift to be able to step into someone’s home and capture their life on such a personal level. If you are interested in scheduling a session like this, send me an email at lifebylexphoto@gmail.com and tell me about your home. I’d be honored to do so.

A note from Emily on why she wanted a session at home:

“When we decided to build our forever home a year and a half ago, we put a lot of thought, discussion, and prayer into where we wanted to plant our roots.  We knew we wanted to find a smaller, close-knit community to raise our family. After driving through our neighborhood for the first time, we knew the location felt right. I was born and raised in “small town” Indiana, and we wanted nothing more than our kids to have that same experience. Our home is without a doubt our children’s favorite place in the world to be, and, as parents, we hope we can keep it that way as long as we can.

There is something so special about watching your own home being built from the ground up. We took many pictures throughout the building process. We were intentional on getting pictures of our kids in the house as it was built, so they can look back at pictures of themselves in the house they were raised in. It was an experience I will never take for granted and forever hold in my heart. I knew I wanted to have a session done of our family in our forever home when it was finished. We are so appreciative that Lex came out to take beautiful photos of us in our forever home.”
