A Visit to the Past

February 26, 2018

I have been wanting to blog our house transformation for a long time and yesterday, I finally decided to do it! It’s no easy task to get your whole house clean enough for photos but it’s something that had to be done in order for me to document our progress.

Truth be told, we had forgotten how different our home looks compared to when we bought it. When we looked at the home for the first time, the previous owner had already moved out so there wasn’t any furniture inside. What you see are the listing photos because I didn’t take any before photos with my camera.

Remodeling was a treacherous process and took many years to complete but one that we are very proud of. We could not have done it without both of our parents, my grandpa, a few paid workers, and tons of elbow grease! Reflecting on these photos was a great opportunity to revisit how far we have come and really appreciate the work we put in.

Just to name a few of the things we did…

  • removal of wallpaper
  • drywall of the whole downstairs
  • addition of new light fixtures
  • a complete bathroom gut
  • tons of painting

Dining Room: Recently, we decided to make this space the dining room. It has fantastic lighting, a ton of space, and beautiful hardwood flooring.

Guest Bedroom: This is currently an extra bedroom but started as our master bedroom. We drywalled the entire room, painted it (twice) and added window dressing.

Living Room: This was the last room to get drywalled but is one of our favorites. It has a beautiful sun porch right off the back and light that pours in all day long. The tall ceilings are one of the reasons we were drawn to the house.

Bathroom: This was the first project and probably largest of the whole house. It was a total gut job. The floors had to be leveled and we added murky glass to the window which was totally refinished by us and one of my favorite parts of the room. On top of that, we added a tiled shower, a beautiful vanity, and made the bathroom more functional overall.

Looooove what you’ve done. This house has new life! Do you remember any of the paint colors you used? Beautiful palette.

Off the top of my head, the bedroom is Dolphin Fin by Behr and the living room is Whitewash Oak by Behr. I can’t think of the bathroom or dining room colors right this second but will get back with you on those. 🙂
