Chicago, IL || Winter 2017 || Travels

December 30, 2017

Earlier this month my brother and I traveled up to South Holland to visit with my other brother’s family. It’s a couple hour drive and only an hour outside of Chicago. We wanted to see Chicago in the winter and all of the Christmas decorations. When we got to South Holland, we bought train tickets for the following morning. Even though we missed two departure times (due to poor planning on our part) by not being ready early enough for the first departure and then being late only by a few minutes for the second one and having to wait an additional hour at the stop causing us to arrive in the city several hours later than planned, we still had a great time and got to see some beautiful views of Chicago before heading back. It was a quick trip that left us wanting more and looking forward to the next time we ride the train in!

Highlights of the trip:

  • The train ride in from South Holland.
  • Beautiful Christmas decorations strung throughout the city.
  • Giordano’s, naturally.
  • Winter WonderFest at Navy Pier.
  • The stunning walk along the Navy Pier on our way home.
  • Family time, of course!

Before we headed out, we had to snap a few photos!

I handed the camera over to one of my nephews and let him take a few photos. It was fun and I truly appreciate it!

This girl is sassy beyond measure.

Since we missed the second planned departure time (by like 3 minutes) we had to wait an additional hour for the next train to arrive.

Finally, we were headed to the city!

We only got to do 2 things at the Winter WonderFest because we arrived later than planned but it was still really fun to see everything!

These views were worth the trip alone!
